Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about watermarking, verification, privacy, and account security in OBSCURA.

What does OBSCURA do?

OBSCURA embeds invisible ownership payloads into images and lets anyone verify authenticity through the decode and robustness tools.

Can I watermark an image I do not own?

No. You should only watermark content you own or are explicitly authorized to use. Do not use OBSCURA for false ownership claims or impersonation.

What is the difference between Public and Private mode?

Public allows attribution checks without a verification key. Private uses your custom verification key for owner-level verification.

Does verification equal legal proof of ownership?

No. Verification confirms a detectable OBSCURA watermark and matching system record; it is not independent legal proof on its own.

What data is stored when I upload?

OBSCURA stores processed output files, upload metadata, timestamps, mode selection, and audit logs required for feature operation and security monitoring.

How do I request account data deletion?

Use account and file controls in the app to remove outputs. For full account-related requests, follow the process outlined in the Privacy Policy and Terms.

Is this legal advice?

No. Legal/compliance text in this product is a policy template for operations and transparency. Have counsel review it for your jurisdiction.
